Data Recovery FAQ

Here are the answers to some commonly asked questions

Q. Why should I choose Data Detect over any other data recovery company?

A. With over 10 years knowledge of all types of data emergency we pride ourselves for the highest achievement rate and the best turnaround time in the industry. Furthermore, our "No Recovery, No Charge" assurance and and pledge of confidentiality means that you can rest assured your data is in the safest hands possible.

Q. Should I try and recover the data myself or have my technician run a data recovery utility on my drive before I send it to a lab?

A. No. You run a higher risk of damaging further data by using utility programs or typical recovery procedures. Many untaught data recovery programmers suppose a drive is optimized both mechanically and electrically. A utility may even try to repair things that are not tainted, risking further irreparable data loss or corruption by overwriting unstable files. As soon as you think a drive may be corrupted, call us directly, right away.

Q. My drive is making an unusual noise. Should I have it opened to see what's going on?

A. Opening any drive component outside of a clean room will probably result in total loss of data and your drive becoming merely a luxurious paperweight. A drive should at all times be worked on in a totally "clean" environment and handled by a technical specialist with authority knowledge of its mechanics.

Q. How will I get my data back?

A. We will put your recovered data on any appropriate replacement media of your choice such as an additional hard drive, CDROM, DVD, or by FTP transfer.

Q. How can I ensure that I won't lose valuable data in the future?

A. Failures are a fact, but you can alleviate the risk of data loss with a tragedy prevention and recovery arrangement. Be sure to backup your data and always have Data Detect's emergency number close by: (02) 9460 3864
